Rest In Peace, Sweet Girl

Yesterday, at approximately 6:45 a.m., my sweet, sweet Liesl passed away in my arms at age, 11 1/2.  She had declined quickly after leaving the hospital, even the doctors and I thought she was going to be okay.  She was a special girl, and I loved her with all of my heart.  My heart feels like it has broken into a million little pieces.  She was such a big part of my life and it is hard to be in the house without her here.

What brings me peace is the knowledge that Liesl had an amazing, big life.  She went on about 30 trips in her lifetime, and went on many adventures here on the Monterey Peninsula.  It is hard to drive my car any place, because I see a place where she and I took walks.  I told her every single day of her life that I loved her.  I feel honored that I got to be her momma.  And I feel honored and privileged to be with her until the end.  I will miss her more than words can express.

I thank you with all of my heart for all of your prayers, good thoughts, comments and love of Liesl over the years.  It means so much to me.

Patti, I'm so sorry for your loss of Lisel. I can't even put into words how I feel. I had 3 furbabys that I sent to the Rainbow Bridge last year, and it's heartbreaking. Please know it does get somewhat easier. Liesl had a wonderful life chronicled in your stories. She will be remembered with love. All I can say is, I'm so sorry. Rest in pierce Liesl.

Patti,
I am so sorry to read this news of the loss of your beloved Liesl. Losing a beloved companion is incredibly difficult. I had been so encouraged with the positive news of her improvement before, and I had hoped that she would fully recover. I hope and pray that you will be comforted by the wonderful memories of your life with Liesl as well as the knowledge that you took such good care of her. Liesl really had such a happy fun life with you and she knew she was loved. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Oh Patti...I am so, so sorry. I've been reading and hoping Liesl would pull through. Losing a beloved pet is so hard. I just went through this with my sweet, Luna. I hope they are both running free together across rainbow bridge til we can see them again. Hugs to you.

Oh, I am so, so sorry to hear about Liesl. It is hard to lose our dear ones. I really think they are our children. I have lost 2 of my dear old cats in the last couple months. Hopefully you will soon find some comfort in your memories. It's been wonderful to hear about your adventures together.

Oh no Patti, I’m so so sorry. It seemed she was getting better the other day. I truly feel for you, I know the unbearable pain of loosing a sweet mini-schnauzer. Its so unfair that dogs live such short lives. I think the reason it hurts so much to lose a fur baby is because they are the only creatures in our lives that never hurt us until the day they leave us. All friends and family hurt us at some time or another, with their words or actions, but dogs only hurt us the day they leave us. I hope knowing that you gave her the best life a dog could ever ask for, will help you as you grieve for her. How blessed she was to pass in your arms, no doubt her favorite place to be in this world. Take care of yourself, you’ve had such sorrow in your life this past year (((HUGS)))

Patti, there are no words. I share in your tears and send hugs of condolence. I have been silently following your saga without words to express how I have been praying for Liesl's health and for your peace.
I am so sorry. Liesl was such a special soul and she was treasured in your life. She will always be in your heart.
In tears, with hugs,
Mary

I've been following your blog off and on for a few years, Patti, and loved hearing about Liesl and Sweet Babu. I am so sorry to hear that neither are in your life any longer. Also, so sorry to hear about your mother passing. You've had three big shocks in the last year - you need to take very good care of yourself. I will pray for you. The blessings and miracles you saw before Liesl's passing, are real but they did not mean that your dog would continue in the physical. I believe you were given signs that your life and your spirit will be renewed and an assurance of the love of the ever present Divine within and around you. The pain you've experienced has opened up your awareness. Be ready to receive the blessings that have been promised you.
