Stormy Sunday

Oh my goodness, we had such a storm today! The wind was terrible. There were pine needles in my yard and driveway from trees that are not even on my street. The rain poured down on us. PG & E has done a lot of preventative work in our neighborhood this fall, and are to be commended. With the heavy winds and rains, we did not lose power in our neighborhood.

Despite the weather, I ventured out and made sure I went to church. Today was Christmas pageant day, and it was so worth it to see those adorable children telling the story of the birth of the Jesus Christ. It was a total cuteness overload. It makes me smile to think about it.

After the pageant, our pastor gave a sermon about looking for the miracles everyday. This is a very cool way to live and makes me feel in awe. I was especially conscious of small miracles today. On my way back from church, I was listening to our classical station, as always. On the radio was Felix Mendelssohn's Reformation Symphony. I love this piece and have not heard it in years. Interwoven throughout the piece is "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God." This is such a beautiful piece and it was wonderful to hear it. A small miracle.

I am stitching small gift ornaments for my friends. Tonight was the first one, pictured above. These are pretty ornate, but easy to stitch. What was neat about stitching an initial, is that I thought alot about the person I am stitching it for while I work on it and what they have meant to me this past year. I think of the times we have shared meals, and laughed, talked, and supported each other. As I stitch, I say a prayer for their happiness and peace in the upcoming year. I am finding this to be a gift to me as well, as I really focus on that person and what their friendship really means to me.

Patti,
What a beautiful gift. You'r friend will treasure it as I am sure they do you'r friendship.

That is a good way to go through life looking for the small miricals and also the wonderment of life.

Have a Very Merry Christmas!
